Girl PaintingOak Park kindergarten is proudly managed in partnership between Oak Park Kindergarten Incorporated (Parent Advisory Group) and  Moreland Early Years Management. Find out more about the Parent Advisory Group or become a Committee member.

The kinder is a not for profit body, and even though we receive government funding and revenue from fees, these cover operational expenses only, and the monies raised from fundraising events throughout the year are required to upgrade facilities and purchase new equipment.

We provide local children with a friendly, stimulating environment in which to grow and learn through their preschool years.  Our kinder offers both a 3 and 4 year old program and operates five days a week. We have an excellent team of dedicated staff who are committed to the children and their education, and are approachable and happy to talk to parents about their children at any time. Find out more about our staff and programs.

Location and Safety

Our kinder is located at 1A Short Avenue, Oak Park, at the end of a quiet court, which allows increased safety for the children at the start and end of sessions.  All visitors are required to ring a doorbell to gain access to the kinder premises at all times.

Further contact details and a map are available.

Renovations to the original building and a new teacher’s office were completed in 2012, allowing more indoor play space for the children, a new kitchen area and a fresh and modern look for the kindergarten.

We have a large garden bed for the children to plant in, as well as two outdoor play spaces including a playground, stage area, sandpit, cubby house, mud Kitchen and a shed full of outdoor play equipment.

OPK commenced operations in 1966, and  celebrated 50 years of operations in 2016! We had a lovely celebration with former staff, parents and children as well as current staff, parents and children and acting Local Government officials! Please check back in our News section for photos of this event.

We would also love to reconnect with former students, Committee members or families with a connection to the kinder.

If you have any old photographs, stories or memorabilia you would like to share, please contact us.

Community Engagement

Oak Park Kindergarten has well-established connections within the Oak Park and wider Moreland communities. In late 2014 we received a grant from the Strathmore branch of the Bendigo Bank to help complete a new outdoor stage and entertainment area.

We hold several fundraising events throughout the year with support from local businesses.

The kinder holds several working bees each year and relies on the support of Committee members, kinder families and the wider community for these and other fundraising events.

If you have a local business or would like to assist with or sponsor a kinder event or project, please contact us.
